The Lees Summit Futbol Club (LSFC) was founded in 1998. The team was created to provide elite-level players from the Lees Summit area with advanced soccer skill development programs. Each program was specifically designed to identify
and correct potential technical weaknesses, accelerate player development and improve consistent play amongst our players.
Today, LSFC players and coaches can be found on collegiate rosters throughout the United States and Europe. In 2008 the Missouri Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) awarded the Youth Coach of the Year to Ron Cox, one of the LSFC trainers.
As of 2012, LSFC teams have won three Missouri State Championships and one National Championship and have played in three national title games.
In 2015 LSFC joined Sporting Kansas City and became Sporting LS 98/99.
The latest advancements in our training programs provide our players with the utmost confidence needed to be successful in local, regional and national competition. The Sporting LS training curriculum is designed to develop all aspects
of the player's game, both technical and tactical. The curriculum is designed by Chris Clements, Director of Coaching at Avila University, NSCAA Instructor as well as Instructor of US Youth Soccer and Zoran Savic, Assistant
Coach for Sporting KC, 2013 MLS Cup Champions. Both members of the Sporting LS coaching team have created the top training program in the state and have developed many collegiate and professional players.
The primary focus of the Sporting LS program focuses on improving player speed, agility, flexibility, balance and conditioning. Our programs are balanced using both technical applications requiring constant repetition and Plyometrics. Our ball or technical training will focus on dribbling, finishing, and applying pressure to opponents. Our off-the-ball training focuses on field awareness, movement without possession and maintaining possession once gained.
Where Are They Today?
This section is dedicated to some of the all-time Sporting LS great players.
Jacole Turner was undoubtedly the best goal keeper to come through the Sporting LS program. Upon graduating from Lee's Summit North High School in 2012; Coaches Ron Cox and Chris Clements worked with Jacole and family to secure professional tryouts with European clubs such as Dinamo Zagreb, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Jacole realized his dreams and eventually landed with Atletico later that summer, where he played professionally at the age of 18.
Additional Sporting LS starters from the 2011-12 team playing professionally or collegiately include Cody Blentlinger, Tyler Wood, Austin Chavez, Josh Tate, Quinton Conyers and Lucas Guilfoil.
More Than Just a Game
